Article 2. Races.

Due to the Covid-19 measures, a different agenda is established than the one that was usually developed, with tests or finishes for 3 days to avoid congestion, also in the shorter distance tests a system of differentiated exits will be implemented with 30-40 minutes between them, in the tests PTCS Petit Trail South Coast – 44km and the STCN Short Trail North Coast – 27km. The PTCS Petit Trail Costa Nord – 58km is also dispensed with, and the PTCS Petit Trail Costa Nord – 39km is recovered, starting from the Cala El Pilar car park.
With these measures we ensure social distancing, we avoid congestion, both at the exits and at the first refreshment station. In addition, we will ensure that the arrival time to META is longer and therefore safer among the participants.
The tests that are modified by the Covid19, will have the following schedules of those defined in previous years, the tests of TMCdC of 185 km, TMCN of 100 km and the TMCS of 85 km, will not undergo significant changes.

Article 3. Acceptance of regulations

Registration implies complete acceptance of the content of these regulations. These regulations must be strictly adhered to by all those participating in any of the six races of the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls.

The organisers reserve the right to modify, interpret and change these regulations to aid the successful running of the event. The race manager, general coordinator and event judges are authorised to definitively rule on any disagreement or dispute relating to the regulations.

To check that you have the latest version, you should consult the review section of these regulations which indicates the date of the latest version.

Article 4. The race and the trail.

The Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls is run almost entirely on the trail of the Great Route, the GR-223, a route which has more than 2,200 wooden milestones that mark the trail. The organisers will add to the signage at the points where they consider it necessary with barrier tapes and signage specifically designed for the race. Runners will be predominantly directed by the wooden milestones, while the presence of onlookers will be merely circumstantial. Orienteering also plays an important role within the competition.

–          The route planner for any of the six races can be found on the official race website (www.trailmenorca.es). Any changes or modifications to the route will be published on the website, as well as on the social media profiles of the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls on Facebook Instagram and on Twitter. The route may be changed due to issues with administrative permits.

–          The route will not be closed to the traffic so runners must take extreme precautions and respect other road users in the areas where they may meet.

–          During the course of any of the six races of the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls, including relays, the runners must follow the instructions of the organisers at all times. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification.

–          The race will be controlled electronically through the Elitechip timing chip. The runners must carry the chip throughout the race, placing it on their shoe next to the ankle. Placing it elsewhere may lead to incorrect readings.

–          The organisers will place control points along the route to ensure that the runners complete the route, as well as recording the times of each runner.

–          The organisers will place two/three undisclosed checkpoints along the Camí de Cavalls to avoid any cheating, such as shortcuts. Any runner who does not pass by these checkpoints will incur time penalties which if they are accumulative and repetitive, can lead to disqualification.

–          Taking shortcuts is strictly prohibited and is grounds for disqualification. Any complaint on this matter should be supported by a photograph or video in which the runner is identified as well as the exact point on the route. If the claim is found to be true, it can lead to the disqualification of the runner.

Article 5. Participation.

Participation is open to all those people who correctly complete the registration process and make the necessary payments depending on the race they choose. In addition, each runner must complete and sign a specific liability disclaimer which will only be issued at the time the race number is collected from the location detailed in point 2.3 of these regulations. If an athlete is having their race number collected by a third party, the disclaimer will be included in the special document required when a third party is going to collect the race number.

When registration is being formalised, the runner must also acknowledge, accept and fulfil the following recommendations:

– The runners must respect the environment where they race and keep the area clean. Therefore, it is prohibited and is grounds for disqualification and fines, to leave any rubbish outside of the containers supplied for this purpose. The judges may take this measure based on the witness statement of any member of the organisation body of the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls.

–  The minimum age for taking part is 18 on the day of the race and it is not allowed for underage athletes to take part in any circumstances.

– The organisers recommend that runners undergo a medical check-up prior to taking part in this competition and ensure that they are in an optimal physical condition for taking part in this ultra-resistance discipline. The organisers reserve the right to prohibit or cancel a registration, or withdraw a runner, if they have serious reason to believe that the runner does not meet the minimum medical requirements or has not suitably trained for the various Trails; in the case of the 185 km distance, a more comprehensive medical examination will be performed.

– It is strictly forbidden to receive any external help or provisioning outside of the points the organisers have established for this purpose. This may be grounds for disqualification. This measure will be applied absolutely in the case of athletes who finish in the top 10 places of their category. This measure will not apply in situations of vital necessity.

– It is strictly forbidden to run any stage of the race or run large sections of more than 500 m or 1,000 m, with people who are not registered in the race and this may be grounds for disqualification.

– All runners, regardless of the distance they are running, must wear the race numbers provided by the organisers of the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls at all times in a visible place such as on the chest, and it may not be trimmed, folded or modified. They should also have a means of communication (mobile, spotlight, etc.) and in particular their personal ID throughout the race.

– The various races of the Trail Menorca Cami de Cavalls are self-supported distances, i.e. you are required to carry liquid and solid foods during the race, in addition to other safety essentials, as indicated in the corresponding section, due to the simple fact that the gaps between provision stations varies between 10 and 20 km.

– There is a zero-tolerance policy towards improper conduct, the misuse of materials issued by the provision stations or the misuse of the fixtures of the GR-223, such as the barriers, stone walls, etc. Any unjustified inappropriate behaviour shall result in immediate disqualification.

– The GR-223 has numerous milestones (approximately 2,2000 throughout the course). It is very important to have a good sense of direction as direction also plays an important part in the competition. Tape will only be placed at specific points and the race will be marked out predominantly by the GR-223 milestones. However, the organisers will mark out or add to existing markers in the most difficult areas, especially urban areas, where marking can leave a lot to be desired.

Article 6. Cut-off times

The runners will have a time limit for each of the six routes which form part of the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls. All runners who reach a checkpoint outside of this time limit will be eliminated from the race. They will not be allowed to continue, not even under their own responsibility; they will be required to hand in their race number and chip (in the event of a hired chip) and sign a document, available at each provision station, which explicitly confirms their withdrawal from the race.

IMPORTANT: Runners may only withdraw from or abandon the race at the checkpoints. In the event of a medical emergency or a similar situation, the appropriate protocols will be activated. For any other athletes who may be thinking about withdrawing form the race, they must carefully calculate the distance between provision stations if they are in any doubt, to avoid borderline situations and take part in the appropriate control at the authorised checkpoint.

–  These are the time limits for each route:
