Registration implies complete acceptance of the content of these regulations. These regulations must be strictly adhered to by all those participating in any of the 8 races of the XIV Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls ConectaBalear.

The organizers reserve themselves the right to modify, interpret and change these regulations to aid the successful running of the event. The race manager, general coordinator and event judges are authorized to definitively rule on any disagreement or dispute relating to the regulations.

To check that you have the latest version, you should consult the review section of these regulations which indicates the date of the latest version.

The XIV Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls ConectaBalear is run almost entirely on the trail of the GR-223, a route which has more than 2,200 wooden milestones that mark the trail. The organizers will add signage at the points where they consider it necessary with barrier tapes and signage specifically designed for the race. Runners will be predominantly directed by the wooden milestones, while the presence of onlookers will be merely circumstantial. Orienteering also plays an important role within the competition.

Since the race is on the environment of Menorca Biosphere Reserve, the onlookers or additional signage will be made with reusable and environmentally compatible items.

– The route planner for any of the 8 races can be found on the official race website (www.trailmenorca.es). Any changes or modifications to the route will be published on the website, as well as on the social media profiles of the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls ConectaBalear on Facebook and Instagram. The route may be changed due to issues with administrative permits.

– The route will not be closed to the traffic so runners must take extreme precautions and respect other road users in the areas where they may meet.

– During any of the 8 races of the XIV Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls ConectaBalear, including the relay race, the runners must always follow the instructions of the organizers. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification.

– The race will be controlled electronically through the Elitechip timing chip. The runners will carry the timing chip glued to the bib and, on the relay race, the runners will carry an additional timing chip for the team that will be worn on the ankle. If the timing chips are used incorrectly the time reading could be wrong. With this timing system the runners can be followed through Elitechip.net being able to see the passage times on every provision station. There’s the possibility that some runners of the longer distances must wear a GPS tag for the organization to enable a live tracking of the race. The organizers will place control points along the route to ensure that the runners complete the route, as well as recording the times of each runner.

– The organizers will place two/three undisclosed checkpoints along the Camí de Cavalls to avoid any cheating, such as shortcuts. Any runner who does not pass by these checkpoints will incur time penalties which if they are accumulative and repetitive, can lead to disqualification.

– Taking shortcuts is strictly prohibited and is grounds for disqualification. Any complaint on this matter should be supported by a photograph or video in which the runner is identified as well as the exact point on the route. If the claim is found to be true, it can lead to the disqualification of the runner.

Article 4.1. Regulation for the TMCdC Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls ConectaBalear CdC – 185KM – Relay.

  • Sections:

The relay sections will be every timing chip control located on the provision stations, this way every section will have the distance between every provision station with timing chip control (Binimel·la and Son Saura will not be runner relay points). The race will have 13 sections that the runners must do continuously or alternately.

  • Example of sections:

Son Morell: 16 km

El Pilar: 15 km

  • Strategy:

The teams will be able to choose individually their race strategy, every runner must do, at least, 3 sections. These sections can be distributed freely by the team. There will not be a previous list to fill with the sections of every runner before the race, it will be fully free for the team to decide, the only rule must be to follow the runner change protocol marked by the organization.

Example:

In a team of 4 runners, every runner will run 3 sections and one runner will do a 4th section, running the 13 sections of the race.

In a team of 3 runners, every runner will run 3 sections, and the remaining sections can be done by one of the runners or they can be distributed between all the team runners.

  • Mandatory pause:

Once the relay teams arrive on the Es Castell provision station (Kilometre 100) finishing the North section of the race, they will have to pause until 06:30am to start the South section along with the start of the TMCS Trail Menorca Cost Sud – 85KM race.

  • Start:

The race start will take place on the “Plaça des Pins” in Ciutadella at 03:30pm on the 1st of May 2026 and the time limit will be 33,5 hours.

  • Timing chip:

Every runner will have their personal timing chip assigned and it’s mandatory to carry it when running. The team will also have a timing chip assigned that the runner who’s racing must carry. This way the runner who’s racing the section will have to carry two timing chips, their personal one and the team’s one.

  • How to change the runner?

The runner who finishes the section must pass over the timing chip control carpets with both timing chips. Once the runners is on the provision station they must go to the runner switching zone and he/she will give the team’s timing chip to the next runner. The next runner must pass over the timing chip control carpets with both timing chips, his/her personal one and the team’s one.

If the runner that finished the section is the one who will race the next section, it’s only mandatory to pass over the timing chip control carpets once.

It should be remembered that every start/end of section will match with a timing control point located on provision stations, it’s forbidden to switch runners on another spot not being the one’s habilitated by the organization. (In case of injury or abandonment of one runner during the race, the team will be granted to keep participating but outside of the competition, it’s mandatory to justify the incidence to the organization to get permission to continue).

Participation is open to all those people who correctly complete the registration process and make the necessary payments depending on the race they choose. If a participant is having their race number collected by a third party, the disclaimer document will have to be carried by the person making the pick-up.

When registration is being formalized, the runner must also acknowledge, accept, and fulfil the following recommendations:

– The runners must respect the environment where they race and keep the area clean. Therefore, it is prohibited and is grounds for disqualification and fines, to leave any rubbish outside of the containers supplied for this purpose. The judges may take this measure based on the witness statement of any member of the organization body of the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls ConectaBalear.

*In the TMCdC STARTER 11KM the minimum age to participate is 16 years old on the day of the race and it is not allowed to take part in any circumstance if you are not 16.

– The organizers recommend that runners undergo a medical check-up prior to taking part in this competition and ensure that they are in an optimal physical condition for taking part in this ultra-resistance discipline. The organizers reserve the right to prohibit or cancel a registration, or withdraw a runner, if they have serious reason to believe that the runner does not meet the minimum medical requirements or has not suitably trained for the various Trails; in the case of the 185 km distance, a more comprehensive medical examination will be performed.

– External help will be permitted in the official provision stations, any external help outside of that provision stations will mean disqualification. Any complaint must be accompanied by photos or video in which you can identify the runner and the point where it is.

– It is strictly forbidden to run along people who are not registered on the race for more than 500m or 1000m, failure to follow this rule may result in disqualification. The scope of application of this rule is through all the track until the finish line.

– All runners, regardless of the distance they are running, must wear the race numbers always provided by the organizers of the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls ConectaBalear on the chest and being properly secured avoiding not desired movements that can avoid identification on first sight, it will be allowed to use a number belt only if the bib number is properly fixed to the t-shirt at one point, and it may not be trimmed, folded, or modified. They should also have a means of communication (mobile, spotlight, etc.) and their personal ID throughout the race.

– The various races of the XIV Trail Menorca Cami de Cavalls ConectaBalear are self-supported distances, i.e., you are required to carry liquid and solid foods during the race, in addition to other safety essentials, as indicated in the corresponding section, due to the simple fact that the gaps between provision stations varies between 10 and 20 km.

– There is a zero-tolerance policy towards improper conduct, the misuse of materials issued by the provision stations or the misuse of the fixtures of the GR-223, such as the barriers, stone walls, etc. Any unjustified inappropriate behaviour shall result in immediate disqualification.

– The GR-223 has numerous milestones (approximately 2,200 throughout the course). It is very important to have a good sense of direction as direction also plays an important part in the competition. Signage will only be placed at specific points, as the race will be marked out predominantly by the GR-223 milestones. However, the organizers will mark out or add to existing markers in the most difficult areas, especially urban areas, where marking can leave a lot to be desired.

The runners will have a time limit for each of the six routes that make up the XIV Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls ConectaBalear. All runners who reach a checkpoint outside of this time limit will be eliminated from the race. They will not be allowed to continue, not even under their own responsibility; they will be required to hand in their race number and timing chip (in the event of a reusable chip) and sign a document, available at each provision station, which explicitly confirms their withdrawal from the race.

IMPORTANT: Runners may only withdraw from or abandon the race at the checkpoints. In the event of a medical emergency or a similar situation, the appropriate protocols will be activated. For any other athletes who may be thinking about withdrawing from the race, they must calculate the distance between provision stations if they are in any doubt, to avoid borderline situations and take part in the appropriate control at the authorized checkpoint.

Would you like to enjoy doing what you love most with your friends? The Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls 185 km offers you the chance to run it as a team!

Team Composition

Each team will consist of 2, 3, or 4 members, who will complete the 185 km Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls (TMCdC) route consecutively, taking turns to relay.

Relay Sections

The relay transitions will take place at chip control points located at the aid stations. Each section will correspond to the distance between two aid stations equipped with timing systems. Binimel·là and Son Saura will not be eligible as relay transition points. The race will include 13 sections, which must be completed by team members either consecutively or alternately. Two members of the same team cannot run the same section together.

Example sections:

  • Son Morell: 16 km
  • El Pilar: 15 km
(and so on until completing 13 sections)

Strategy

Teams can freely decide their race strategy, but each member must complete at least 3 mandatory sections. These sections can be run consecutively or alternated with other team members.

It is not necessary to define a predetermined order for the relay transitions. Teams will have complete freedom to decide on the go, always following the protocol for runner changes to record the data in the system.

Example:

  • In a team of 4 runners: each member will complete 3 sections, and one member will need to run a fourth section to complete the 13.
  • In a team of 3 runners: each member will complete 3 mandatory sections, and the remaining sections can be assigned to the fittest member. For instance: runner 1 completes 3 sections, runner 2 completes 3 sections, and runner 3 completes 7 sections.

Mandatory Pause

Relay teams will stop at the aid station in Es Castell (km 100) after completing the northern part of the race. They will have a mandatory break until 6:30 AM, coinciding with the start of the TMCS Trail Menorca Costa Sud – 85 km.

Start

The team relay race will start at 3:30 PM, with a maximum time limit of 33.5 hours to complete the race.

Chip Control

Each team member must run with their assigned chip. If a runner has a personal chip, they must use the one provided by the organizers. Additionally, the team will be assigned a second chip. The active runner during a section will wear two chips—one personal and one for the team—one on each foot.

Relay Transitions

  1. The runner finishing their section must pass over the chip control mat with both chips (personal and team).
  2. They will then hand the team chip to the next runner, who must activate it by passing over the chip control mat again.
  3. If the same runner continues to the next section, they only need to pass once through the timing control.

Restrictions

  • The start and end of each section will coincide with chip timing points at aid stations. Relay transitions are not allowed at any other point along the route.
  • In case of injury or withdrawal of a runner, the remaining members can continue out of competition, provided the situation is duly justified.
